Romance is running gracefully in a flowing white dress through an endless wheat field while caught up in daydreams about your lover. This ready-to-wear season, romance is running down the runway for Jacquemus’s SS21 collection “L’Amour”; a winding path through a golden wheat field.
Compared to last year’s Spring Ready-to-Wear collection, this year toned down from bright pinks, greens and vibrant yellows to light and airy whites, wheat-yellows, subtle blues and jades and a contrasting black.
The palette of “L’Amour” reflects the designer’s vision of love, inspired however not by a passionate, lustful love but by community, celebration and absence– all of which are values most cherished during the global coronavirus pandemic.
“As an idea for this collection, L’Amour began as something different. I imagined people gathered together celebrating love,” he writes via Instagram. “But what’s so beautiful about L’Amour is how it can endure — sometimes even grow stronger — in the absence of people being together.”
The collection itself creates the aura of a freeing yet bonding love within its garments through lineage in forms of straps and belts, flowing fabric and pleated skirts, curves around the bust, and adding a romantic sleeve, all along with a touch of gold.
These amorous looks aren’t limited to the wheat fields of Jacquemus SS21. Here are some runway trends from this collection that can transform your summer style and make you look like a “L’Amour” muse.
